SHS student appeals for support to undergo hip replacement surgery

An 18-year-old SHS student is appealing for financial support to raise ¢35,000 to enable him undergo a total Hip Replacement Surgery, at the St. Joseph Orthopaedic Hospital, in Koforidua.

Damien has been suffering from Perthes disease since he was in class four.

Madam Nisuni Kanose, the mother of Damien Kanose, says her son developed the condition when he was in class four.

According to her, Damien was sent to the Bawku and Navrongo government hospitals for treatment, but he could not be treated of the disease.

They were later transferred to the St. Joseph hospital, in Koforidua.

After careful examinations by the doctor there, Damien was diagnosed of having perthes disease.

She explained that the sickness became worse when Damien got to SHS two, and that compelled him to stop schooling.

Madam Kanose, who is a widow and a single mother, says she has been taking care of her son, all alone till he dropped out of school at the Kanton Senior High School at Tumu in the Upper West Region, due to his condition.

Damien now needs ¢35,000 to enable him undergo a total Hip Replacement Surgery, at the St. Joseph Orthopaedic Hospital in Koforidua.

Madam Kanose is therefore appealing to all well-meaning Ghanaians and organizations to help her raise the money for her son’s surgery.

Damien Kanose said he wants to become a physician in future.
