The Ghana National Association of Small Scale Miners has blamed government for what it calls ‘Bad Policies’ in the Mining Sector which accounts for the difficulties in ending galamsey.

Public Relations Officer of the Association Benjamin Annang, told GBC NEWS that the Community Mining Program introduced in June last year, aimed at formalizing selected mining communities has caused more harm than good.

He called for the Program to be scrapped and handed over to small-scale miners because they have been trained by the government for that purpose.

Reacting to news of some individuals being trapped in a mining pit in the Upper East region, Mr. Annang said the Community Mining Program is to blame for such occurrences while casting doubts that any member of the Association was among those trapped.
