He said some pockets of burning within the area are by people downstream who burn hide popularly known as “Wale”.

A health post the Agbogbloshie scrapyard in Accra is being under-utilized considering the location it is cited.

With a staff of nine the Senior Nursing Officer In-charge of Old Fadama clinic, Angela Gyamfua Nti said the facility sees six patients daily at most saying there are days that no patient visits the clinic.

She mentioned respiratory tract infection, Urinary Tract Infection, UTI, Peptic Ulcers, malaria, skin disorders as some of the ten topmost health issues recorded at the facility. Miss Angela Nti noted that trauma and injuries pertaining to accidents involving Okada riders is the emergency case it records.

She attributed the low patronage of the facility to the absence of billboard to advertise the existence of the facility. She called on benevolent organizations to help erect a billboard to indicate its presence within the enclave.

Old Fadama clinic at Agbogbloshie was inaugurated two years ago with a Technical Training Center and a football pitch as part of efforts to transform the Agbogbloshie scrapyard from a nuisance for the country and its people to an environmentally sound yard.
