Special Prosecutor invites embattled PPA boss, others over alleged corruption

The Office of the Special Prosecutor has invited the suspended Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority (PPA), Adjenim Boateng Adjei for questioning as investigations into corruption allegations made against him begins.

Mr. Adjei, alongside the shareholders and directors of companies allegedly linked to him, Talent Discovery Limited and B-Molie Enterprise, are to report to the Acting Head of investigations of the Special Prosecutor Office on Thursday, August 29, 2019, at 10 am.

This was in letter copied to gbcghanaonline in Accra, Thursday, August 22, 2019,

Mr. Adjei has been asked to report with “all information and documents including relevant minutes of the board relating to this investigation.”

You are accordingly being invited both as the Chief Executive Officer of the Public Procurement Authority and a Director and Shareholder of the said companies to assist in the investigations pursuance of section 29 and 73 of the Office of the Special Prosecutor Act, 2017 (Act 959) and Regulation 10 of the office of the Special Prosecutor (Operations) Regulations, 2018.”

President Nana Akufo-Addo referred Mr. Adjei to the Special Prosecutor following corruption claims allegations levelled against him in an investigative documentary by an investigative journalist, Manasseh Azure Awuni, titled “Contracts for Sale”.

The President also referred Mr. Adjei to the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) because of conflict of interest claims.
