Authorities of SONABEL, managers of the Bagre and Kompienga Dams in Burkina Faso have announced plans to spill both dams from 27th to 30th of this month.

According to the authorities, the move has become necessary because water in the Dams have almost reached maximum levels.

Following the hint by SONABEL, Managers of the Bagre and Kompienga Dams about the spillage, NADMO officials have begun sensitizing the people in the areas to be affected, particularly those in the districts that have always been described as the hardest hit.

Residents living along the White Volta have been advised to move to high grounds. When the news team visited the White Volta, it was revealed that the water level of the White Volta has increased. The residents are yet to adhere to the directive not to farm at the river banks.

The crops spotted on the banks of the White Volta particularly maize were not matured for harvesting. Speaking with GBC NEWS, the Upper East Regional Director of NADMO, Jerry Asamani said his outfit will continue to embark on series of sensitization programmes to avoid any disasters.

Mr. Asamani said the relief items they have in stock are not enough, hence the need for NGOs, Faith-based organizations and individuals to support them with more relief items to enable them to respond effectively to any disaster that may occur.

Chiefs, opinion leaders, stakeholders and for that matter the media have all pledged their readiness to support NADMO to execute their duties as expected.
