510, 102 SSNIT Members with the Ghana Card have been merged four days after the SSNIT-NIA merger took effect.

The merger is to ensure an effective ID system in the country. It will pave the way for the use of the Ghana Card to transact SSNIT Business.

Speaking at a media briefing in Accra, Director-General of SSNIT, Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang gave assurance that the merger will not affect payment of pensions.

He said from January, next year only the Ghana Card will be eligible to be enrolled onto the SSNIT Scheme.

He, therefore, encouraged the public to do well to merge their cards.

The merger Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang noted will save SSNIT and the country 17 million Dollars, especially in printing new cards.

Formerly the scheme spends about 10 million dollars in issuing cards for a year to about 2.8 million members. An amount he noted can be used for other development purposes.
