St Lucas Hospital Wiaga receives PPE’s to fight COVID-19

The Bishop of Navrongo-Bolgatanga Dioceses Most Reverent Alfred Agyenta has reminded the Catholic faithful to remain calm and observe strictly the rules and precautions issued by health authorities and the government in preventing the spread of COVID-19 in this Easter period. The call was made when he presented PPE on behalf Clement Akapame to the management of St Lucas Hospital at Wiaga to help fight the COVID-19 pandemic.

Clement Akapame is a citizen of Buluk and has been instrumental in helping the development of the hospital. Over the years, he has supported the hospital with beds and currently sponsoring the construction of maternity and children’s Wards at the hospital.

As part of efforts to help fight COVID-19, he has again donated PPE to the hospital through the Bishop. Given the importance, the Bishop attaches to such gestures and as the father of the facility, His Lordship’s presence was felt at the presentation. Speaking to media, he recounted the immense contributions of Akapame to the facility and advised management of the hospital to put the items to good use.

On COVID-19 during this Easter season, His Lordship Alfred Agyenta indicated that, that the church supports the measures instituted by Government to ensure that people follow those instructions. At the level of the church especially the Bishops’ conference, have issued clear instructions to the faithful during this Easter to celebrate in a manner that will not obstruct the lives of the people.

He advised Christians especially Catholics to remain calm, observe precautions and spread hope rather fear.

The Medical Director in charge of St Lucas Hospital Dr, Anyawen Isaac Awaadem who received the items thanked the Bishop for the gesture and that it will help the frontline workers of the hospital.

Dr. Awaadem indicated that, though the hospital has not recorded any case of COVID-19, all the necessary measures and rules have been put in readiness He added that the facility in working hand in hand with the District Health Directorate rapped Management team in the Region.
