The Eastern Regional Statistician, Bright Worlanyo Neku, has debunked allegations that training allowances meant for enumerators of the upcoming Population and Housing Census slated for the 27th of this month has been slashed by the Regional Office.

In an interview with GBC NEWS in Koforidua, Mr. Neku explained that the reduction from ¢440 to ¢330 was communicated to the enumerators who are currently on a training workshop for the Census.

His explanation comes in the wake of a threat by some enumerators in the New Juaben South Municipality to boycott the exercise because of the reduction in their allowance by the Ghana Statistical Service.

According to the enumerators, there is no doubt that their remuneration for the actual exercise will be slashed since the meagre amount for the training has been reduced hence their decision to boycott the exercise.

Mr. Neku said calm has since been restored at the training centers after the issues were explained to the enumerators.
