Spokesperson on the NDC Manifesto Committee on Gender, Social Protection and Inclusion, Shamima Muslim highlighted the party’s motive to implement the affirmative action bill and amend the law to ensure that four months of maternity leave is given to mothers who have had a stillbirth and gone through Caesarian Surgery.

She also mentioned the party’s proposal to set up sixteen survival shelters in all sixteen regions of the country for victims of rape and violence considering the few shelters available.

According to her, the NDC will strengthen the Gender Ministry, and expand social protection systems including school feeding program, National Health Insurance Scheme, Labour Intensive Public Works and the free Senior High School policy.

Additionally, the party has pledged to support persons with disabilities with the prompt relay of funds, revitalize inter-school sports competitions to unearth talents, and address streetism, child marriages, and abuse in schools.
