Take advantage of Planting for Export and Rural Development

Farmers in the Adansi North District of Ashanti have been advised to take advantage of the Ghana Beyond Aid Vision espoused by President Akufo-Addo and enroll in the Planting for Export and Rural Development, Planting for Food and Jobs and Warehousing and Fertilizer Subsidy Programmes of the Government.

The Adansi North District Chief Executive, Mr. Eric Kwaku Kusi, who made the call at this year’s District Farmers Day Celebration at Kyekyewere explained that the Ghana Beyond Aid requires deliberate quantitative and qualitative change in the agriculture value chain to better the lives of farmers, enhance food security and provide better nutrition for citizens.

The Farmers Day celebration in the Adansi North District of Ashanti which was on the theme: Planting for Food and Jobs- Consolidating Food System in Ghana” saw farmers display a wide range of agric produce such as plantain, yam, pawpaw, orange, cassava, cocoa, vegetables and fish.

Twelve farmers were honored at the event.

A 48-Year old farmer from Kusa, Kwadwo Afoakwa was adjudged Best Farmer and was awarded with a tricycle, spraying machines, cutlasses, agro- chemicals among other items.

The Adansi North District Director of Agric, Mr. Richard Amo Kwarteng hinted of the establishment of a satellite market at Akrokerri Junction next year solely for marketing of farm produce.

The Adansi North District Chief Executive, Mr. Eric Kwaku Kusi advised farmers to take advantage of the Ghana Beyond Aid Vision espoused by President Akufo-Addo, which requires deliberate quantitative and qualitative change in the agricultural value chain to better their, provide food security and provide better nutrition.

The Adansihene Opagyakotwere Bonsra Afriyie urged Municipal and District Chief Executives in Adansi Traditional Area to ensure that all basic schools in Adansi benefit from the School Feeding Programme.
