Take interest in your pensions – ICU tells workers

The Industrial and Commercial Workers Union (ICU) has asked its members and the Ghanaian workforce to take special interest in pension issues whilst formally engaged in employment.

This is to prevent the inconvenience and frustrations they have to go through in the event of retirement.

General Secretary of ICU, Solomon Kotei told an audience made up of ICU members and the media in Accra that, most workers fail to properly prepare for their pensions, hence fall into all sorts of traps and unfortunate situations when they go on retirement.

Mr. Kotei told the workers to make informed decisions on the right age to retire because retiring at age 55 or 60 has serious implications afterwards.

The interaction was facilitated by the ICU with support from FNV Mondicial, a Global Trade Union and was aimed at sensitizing workers to prepare towards retirement and thereafter.
