Mawusi who pleaded guilty of the offense however, mentioned that she was pregnant and so was asked to go and do a pregnancy test to prove it.

She said during her time in police custody, she was hit by a police personnel and that caused her to miscarry.

The Judge insisted that a pregnancy test be carried out explaining that it’s a prerequisite to passing judgment.

The unidentified suspect requested to assist Nana Akosua to hand over her baby boy to her to relieve her so could serve customers better.

The suspect then took the one year old boy and his sibling to a nearby sausage stand and bought them some, and later returned the sibling leaving the one year old boy with the sausage seller.

The suspect then promised to return the boy but subsequently bolted away with the boy without the mother noticing.

Later, the victim’s mother, realizing their absence raised an alarm but it was too late to trace the whereabouts of her baby.

The two were arrested by of the SWAT team of the Ghana Police Service at their hideout in Effiakuma in the Effia-Kwesimitsim Municipality in the early hours of Tuesday, March 26 with the stolen baby.
