Preparations are ongoing in Takoradi to relocate traders from the Central Business District especially, the market circle area.
Buildings, temporary shops and sheds including the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly Quarters are being demolished.
Another area close to the Takoradi ECG Pay Point has also been cleared to house some of the traders.
In an interview with GBC NEWS, Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Chief Executive, Abdul Mumin Issah, said the movement of the traders will be done in phases to give all of them enough time to relocate.
Touching on the surge in coronavirus cases, Mr. Mumin entreated all, especially market women to observe the safety protocols in order not to contract the virus.
He advised people to refrain from putting the face mask under the chin.
