An office complex of the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo) in Tamale and the Lamashegu Police Station have been vandalised.

The attacks occurred after a group marched through some streets of the Northern Regional capital in protest at what it termed frequent police brutalities. On Monday, September 21, 2021some residents of Nimafong, Zujun and Lamashegu were assaulted by some police personnel who were deployed to arrest some persons suspected of engaging in power theft.

The incident attracted widespread condemnation from the public leading to the interdiction of the 4 Personnel involved.

The Police and the Volta River Authority (VRA) have also apologised to the victims and urged them to stay calm.

Some residents are however not satisfied with the steps taken so far and have moved to attack the NEDCo facility and the Police Station.

Attempts to get a reaction from the two institutions have so far failed.
