Nutrifoods Ghana Limited, a leading food manufacturing company based in Tema, Ghana, established as a joint venture between Olam International and Sanyo Foods, has been cleared by the management of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) to resume production and distribution of Tasty Tom Enriched Tomato Mix, which was put on hold in August 2025.
According to the FDA, results from a thorough evaluation of Nutrifoods Ghana’s activities carried out were satisfactory, thus the clearance to resume operations.
The regulatory authority has reaffirmed safety, quality, and compliance in the line of Nutrifoods Ghana’s production.
In August 2025, under the guidance of the FDA, the firm issued a precautionary product recall for certain select batches of the product that did not fully meet our high standards.
According to the company, this responsible measure reflected its deep commitment to consumers and readiness to act decisively to preserve the safety and quality of its products.
In a statement issued by Nutrifoods Ghana, it has collaborated closely with the FDA in a rigorous and constructive evaluation that examined all aspects of its factory operations.
“Further, in line with the FDA guidance, we have also strengthened our process controls, including extended incubation protocols, to reinforce quality assurance at the highest possible levels.
This review reaffirmed that our production systems and products are fully compliant with the highest standards and regulatory requirements. This reflects our long-standing promise to deliver food made with integrity, safety, and our core values of responsibility, transparency, and consumer trust.
We are proud that for over a decade, Tasty Tom has been a trusted part of everyday cooking in Ghana. We would like to apologize for any inconvenience, and we are pleased that Tasty Tom products are now available for consumers to enjoy. Tasty Tom — trusted, reaffirmed, and ready to serve”, portions of the statement read.
