The families of the missing Takoradi girls have expressed disappointment at the police for their refusal to release the bones believed to be that of the four missing girls to them.

The families yesterday met with the IGP with the hope of going back to Takoradi with the remains.

The three families who are contesting the results of the DNA test carried out by the police were taken to the morgue of the Police Hospital to see the remains for the first time.

They, however, rejected the remains that were presented by the police, saying they could not have been that of their girls.

They wanted the remains released to them for an independent forensic audit, but the Police refused.

According to the spokesperson for the Families, Michael Grant Hayford, the families need the remains if they are to accept the Police report.

Meanwhile, briefing the media after the meeting with the Inspector of Police (IGP) and subsequent visit to the morgue, Deputy Director of Police Public Affairs, Sheila Abayie Buckman explained that the Police are willing to give out the remains, only if the families follow due process.

According to the Police, the remains are court exhibits and are crucial in their investigations.
