The Teachers and Educational Workers Union, TEWU has kicked against a directive from the Ghana Education Service, GES for all staff of the Service occupying government bungalows to be deducted 10% of their salaries as rent.
Public Relations Officer of GES, Cassandra Twum Ampofo had earlier stated that the move is not a new phenomenon.
Speaking to GBC News, General Secretary of TEWU, Mark Denkyira Korankye described the directive as ”an imposition which has the tendency to disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the educational sector”.
He asked GES to invite the various Teacher Unions and stakeholders for a roundtable on the impasse.
