The Tema and Ashaiman Metropolitan Assemblies have launched ‘30 days to census night’ for the 2021 Population and Housing Census with a call on residents to cooperate with officers during enumeration to ensure a successful exercise.

The census night will be on June 27, during which church bells, Mosque speakers, sirens, brass band music, traditional performances and social media activities will be used as reference point for all information to be collected on the population and also mark the beginning of the enumeration phase of the 2021 census.

The Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive, Felix Mensah Nii Anang-La, in a message appealed to residents to welcome the officers into their homes and premises and provide them with accurate information.

Mr. Anang-La gave the assurance that census officers are being recruited from their communities, for familiarity reasons.

He said the census is an important exercise carried out every 10 years, which will help government and the Metropolis to get the needed comprehensive and credible data for the assessment of the socio-economic profile of the people.

He said it will also help in informing policy formulation and development.
