One of the nominees to the Supreme Court, Emmanuel Yoni Kulendi, says he will apply the strictest sense of the law and be impartial in executing his mandate if approved to be a Judge of the Apex Court of the land.

He said the law must take its course no matter who is involved in a case, even if it is the President.

Answering questions at the vetting proceedings in Accra, Mr. Kulendi said even though there should be no partiality in the course of the law, there are legitimate rooms for exceptions in certain cases.

Mr. Kulendi said he has volunteered to serve the country in the capacity of a potential Supreme Court Judge and not because of any financial motivation.  He however said the remuneration of Judges and those in the judiciary should be up scaled.

Touching on the view that some personnel of the police detain some suspects in custody for more than 48 hours without trial or bail on the excuse that the suspects were detained on a weekend, Mr. Kulendi said the concept of weekend Court proceedings should be strictly enforced.  He further said the police personnel must be oriented to know that they are dealing with human beings who have rights that must be respected.
