Thousands of mourners gathered in Tema on Saturday, March 28, to bid a final farewell to two brothers who died in a tragic microlight aircraft crash on March 16.
The funeral followed a brief laying-in-state in the morning, after which a church service was held before the interment. The large turnout, which included senior government officials, Members of Parliament from both sides of the House, and other dignitaries, reflected the nationwide attention and grief that followed the incident.
Emergency services confirmed that both men died at the scene after the aircraft caught fire on impact. Authorities said the crash occurred shortly after the aircraft lost radio contact at about 14:18 Zulu time.
Firefighters who responded to the incident noted that teachers and pupils at a nearby daycare facility had evacuated before the blaze spread, preventing further casualties.
The tragedy has since sparked widespread condolences and renewed discussions around aviation safety, as the two brothers were laid to rest amid a strong show of national solidarity.
