The Ghana Police Service in the Savannah Region has arrested three suspects in connection with a murder and assault incident that occurred at Gbiniyiri.

According to the police, the suspects; Yaw Bamuah, Yaa Bokaa and Kuma Simpor, were arrested on March 14, 2026, by the Inspector-General of Police’s Special Intelligence Team in collaboration with the Savannah Regional Police Command.

In a statement issued in Damongo and signed by ASP Richard Osei Yaw on Monday, March 16, the police said one of the suspects, Yaw Bamuah, admitted his involvement in the attack during interrogation and mentioned several alleged accomplices.

The statement further indicated that the accomplices, identified as Anuda Borour, Pobiye, Bitunor Sansa and James Sanyuah, are currently being pursued by the police.

Investigators said the suspect indicated that the attack was carried out in retaliation after the killing of a relative whom they believed had been attacked by robbers suspected to be Fulani.

Police further revealed that the suspect later led officers to his residence in Gbiniyiri, where a single-barrel shotgun with serial number BAT 2598-88 and two live AAA cartridges were retrieved from a concealed spot within the compound.

The three suspects are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

The statement added that the suspects will be put before court, while efforts are being intensified to arrest the remaining individuals believed to be connected to the incident.
