Three people, including a woman, have been arrested after drones were allegedly flown over the headquarters of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) without authorisation.

The incident happened on Thursday, October 1, 2026, while Manhyia South MP Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah was at the EOCO headquarters to assist with an ongoing investigation.

The drones reportedly remained over the EOCO premises for several minutes before officials moved in and arrested the three suspects.

The incident occurred less than a day after an Accra High Court issued a warrant for the arrest of the MP.

The court on Wednesday, September 30, authorised EOCO to arrest the legislator after the agency told the court that attempts to secure his voluntary attendance had failed.

The court also granted EOCO permission to search for and seize documents believed to be relevant to its investigation.

However, Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah appeared voluntarily before EOCO on Thursday, accompanied by his lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea.

EOCO had earlier attempted to arrest the MP at the Accra High Court on September 23.

The agency said the MP had been invited twice in February 2026 but failed to honour the invitations.

The MP has disputed that claim, explaining that the invitations were sent to his former law firm, Sarkodie Baffour Awuah & Partners, which represented SIC Life Savings & Loans.

He said representatives of the law firm later appeared before EOCO on March 4, March 18 and April 30 and submitted the information requested by investigators, including a written statement.

The investigation concerns alleged unauthorised financial transactions at SIC Life Savings & Loans Company Limited.

EOCO is investigating suspected financial loss, the alleged dissipation of public funds and possible money laundering.

Meanwhile, the circumstances surrounding the drone flights are also being investigated.

The allegations against the MP and the three drone suspects have not been established in court.
