Today is being observed as International Wetlands Day.
It is on the theme “Wetlands and Water”.
GBC News engaged the Chief Executive Officer of Hatof Foundation, Environmental Policy Advocacy NGO, Samuel Dotse on the significance of wetlands to development.
He expressed concern that attention has been shifted to forest-related issues to the detriment of wetlands.
Mr. Dotse noted that human activities are gradually eroding the gains made in safeguarding wetlands, a situation he described as unacceptable.
