The relocation of traders in and around the Takoradi Central Market to temporary sites within the metropolis has begun with over four hundred traders already settled.

The move is to pave the way for work to commence on the €48 million redevelopment project.

President Akufo-Addo in August last year cut the sod for work to begin on the redevelopment of the Takoradi Central Market also known as Market Circle.

The project is to be undertaken by Messrs Contracta Construzioni Italia with funding from an export credit by Deutsche Bank SPA.

In an interview with GBC news in Sekondi, Public Relations Officer of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA), John Laste said traders from zone one and two have been grouped and relocated.

The scope of work involves construction of 2,408 stalls, 33 restaurants and food courts, bulk breaking areas, parking lot, union offices, police station, fire station, post office, clinic, administrative offices and waste separation dock.
