The Trade Union Congress, TUC with support from the Danish Trade Union Development Agency is distributing large quantities of Personal Protective Equipment to all the twenty-one affiliate Unions.

The items valued at $44,000 are in line with efforts at containing the Covid-19 pandemic.

To this effect, PPE has been presented to the leadership of the Union of Informal Workers Association, UNIWAS in Accra. They include 1,050 boxes of nose masks, 1,250 packs of hand sanitizers, 20 gallons of liquid soap, 20 infra-red thermometer guns and an unspecified quantity of tissues.

Deputy Secretary-General of TUC Joshua Ansah gave a background to the presentation and its significance towards the fight against Covid-19.

General Secretary of UNIWAS Deborah Freeman who received the items expressed gratitude to the TUC and the donors for the kind gesture.

She stressed the importance of the donation to members who by the nature of their work are highly exposed to the virus.

Madam Freeman entreated members to put the PPE to good use to minimize their chances of contracting the Covid-19 virus.
