By: Bawanke Jerry king David

Two bodies have been recovered from the Volta Lake in the Krachi West Municipality of the Oti region.

Mr. Edu Sampson, a 30-year old teacher and Madam Afua Nyarkowaah in her 40s were returning from Kete Krachi to their respectively Island communities on a fishing boat when they both met their untimely death.

Eyewitnesses said, some of the passengers had already decided not to go on the trip due to the bad weather condition.

The two had to drop at Kotoku Gyane but the boat operator bypassed the island community because it was already late and had to turn back to drop them.

Unfortunately, while the operator was turning around, he lost control due to strong winds and the boat capsized.

They said that they were passing through Kotoku because they needed to alight one passenger there. But because it was late at night, they bypassed the community before they realised it.

“So they decided to curve to go back and drop the passenger so it was in the process that that he lost control of the boat and it capsized,” an eyewitness narrated.

The boat operator, a fisherman and one teacher however escaped, leaving the two who droned.

The bodies of the deceased have been sent to the Krachi Government hospital.
