The Upper West Regional Minister, Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih has allayed the fears of Ghanaians of the anticipated terrorists attack on the nation.
He said government has deployed security personnel along the borders with neighbouring Burkina Faso.
Dr. Bin Salih who expressed the sentiment at his maiden media briefing in Wa, appealed to the citizenry to be security conscious and report all suspicious characters in their localities to the security agencies for interrogation.
The Regional Minsters address touched on wide range of issues including the free Senior High School, (SHS) programme, Planting for Food and Jobs, One-Village-One-Dam, (1V1D), One-District-One-Warehouse, (1D1W), Road Infrastructure and Sanitation.
Touching on One-Village-One-Dam, Dr. Bin Salih said so far, 110 dams and dugouts have been awarded on contract with each of the eleven districts of Upper West hosting ten (10) of the dams and dugouts in relation to governments aim of promoting dry season farming.
He pointed out that post-harvest management has been the bane of many farmers resulting in serious losses of their produce and said to address the challenge, One-District-One-Warehouse programme was initiated.
Dr. Bin Salih continued that Upper West is currently benefiting from four warehouses with the capacity to hold.
One thousand metric tons located at Bulenga, Hain, Bussie and Charikpong which are at various stages of completion.
He also informed the media the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) is constructing three warehouses at Tumu, Funsi and Lambussie.
He also commented on the 160-bed capacity Regional Hospital in Wa and the Wa Airport.
Dr. Bin Salih stated that even though the physical completion of the project is slated for the end of June this year, “we must ensure that all the complements to make it functional as a regional hospital are in place before it is commissioned.”
In respect of the Airport, he announced that a Team from the Ministry of Aviation was in Wa to carry out test on the tarmac to ensure that it meets international aviation standards before commercial flights would begin flights on it.
The Regional Minister emphasized that the RCC will not bow to pressure from anyone to commission the Hospital.
