The United Nations (UN) General Assembly on Wednesday, March 25, voted to designate the transatlantic African slave trade “the gravest crime against humanity” – despite opposition from the United States, Israel and Argentina and 52 abstentions after President John Dramani Mahama presented the resolution to the UN plenary.

According to televangelist and Founder of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach, Rev. Dr. Lawrence Tetteh, though the UN needs to be commended for the backing, he believes they have failed in their mandate to harmonize.

He stated that, the UN has failed if all the states did not back the resolution.

Speaking on the GTV breakfast show, Dr. Tetteh urged the UN to go back to the drawing board. “We need to find out why some are abstaining, do they feel no remorse? Millions were sold into slavery, some families have never reconciled”, he noted.
