The Upper West regional Passport Application Center (PAC) has been commissioned. This brings the number of Passport Application Centers across the country to 13, following the Commissioning of the Central regional passport application center in Cape Coast and another in Ridge (Accra).

It forms part of efforts to expand the scope of passport operations in the country.

Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Mohammed Habibu Tijani commissioned the Passport Application Center in Wa on behalf of the Minister Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey.

Mr Habibu-Tijani was optimistic about the benefits of having a passport application center in Wa

“While residents of this region will have the privilege of conveniently applying for passports without travelling to neighbouring regional centres for the processing of their applications, it is also envisaged that the establishment of this Passport Application Centre in Wa would create business opportunities in the supply chain where indigenes, residents and well-meaning Ghanaians can take advantage and set up their own small businesses.”

He added that “the ministry would continue to work closely with other relevant ministries, department and Agencies (MDAs), such as births and deaths registry, the controller and Accountant General’s Department, Ghana Immigration service and other security services, all of which have representatives stationed in this PAC. It is therefore important for all staff from the various MDAs to exhibit high levels of professionalism and decorum in the exercise of their duty.”
