Use Social Media wisely – Dr Lawrence Tetteh

By: Henrietta Afful

The Founder and President of the Worldwide Miracle Outreach, Reverend Dr Lawrence Tetteh says a lot of Ghanaians especially the youth, are not only abusing social media platforms but are also using it to destroy the community, their generation and Ghana at large.

Reverend Dr. Lawrence Tetteh indicated that most social media posts are not edifying and educational and therefore cautioned the youth against making such posts.

He said the influence of social media is profound and the youth can explore the beneficial and positive aspects of it to educate, improve and develop themselves.

Reverend Dr Lawrence Tetteh said this on the ‘Headlines’ segment of the GTV Breakfast Show on Thursday, 3rd November, 2022.

“…A lot of people have made comments loosely and unguarded and it is destroying our community. So have we used Social Media to undermine the hard-won reputation of certain individuals” he said.

He noted that most social media posts and comments about certain dignitaries in the community have ended up destroying their reputation on various international platforms.

‘Most people sit at home and they don’t realize the implications of what they do”.

He said a lot of people have become irresponsible on social media and urged such people to channel the hours spent on social media platforms into profitable ventures.

Dr. Tetteh said social media is breeding criminality, promoting cybercrime and falsehood and therefore appealed to the Police to create a system that can purge and clean up the community of the ‘junk’.

“I think the Police should go beyond just haunting certain individuals and create a platform that our cyber system can work very well so that we cleanse our community of the junk that happens through social media” Dr Lawrence Tetteh said.
