Veep Dr. Bawumia joins Upper West region for Eid-Ul Fitr

The Islamic faithful who converged at the sky Jubilee Park in Wa were excited to see the Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia joining them for the first time to offer prayers to mark Eid-Ul Fitr reports Emmanuel Mensah-Abludo.

According to Emmanuel, the presence of the Vice President in Wa to mark the occasion followed a pledge he made on the first of this month whilst on his Ramadan tour of the Upper West Region.

The flight that brought the second gentleman of the land to Upper West for the Eid prayers touched down at the Wa Airport at 8.00 am.

The worshippers at the Jubilee Park were led by the Regional Chief Imam, Dr. Mahama Suleman who thanked Allah for seeing them through another successful religious cleansing exercise.

He prayed for Allah to grant President Akufo-Addo and Vice President, Dr. Bawumia what he described as “perfect physical and mental health as well as wisdom and patience of faith to run the affairs of mother Ghana to our desired destination”.

Vice President Bawumia pointed out that government is committed to the task of delivering prosperity to Ghanaians announced that the Minister for Finance has signed a commencement warrant for the Ministry of Inner Cities and Zongo Development to start  spending  on Zongo communities from the Zongo Development Fund allocation in the 2019 budget.

Dr. Bawumia later had a lunch with some religious leaders at the Residency in Wa where he re-emphasized the need for the religious tolerance in the country to be upheld.

The Regional Chief Iman, Dr. Mahama Sulemam and the Catholic Bishop of Wa, Most Rev. Richard Kuuia Baawobr prayed at the event.
