The Vice President, Dr. Mahmud Bawumia, has launched Ghana’s ”Covid 19 Tracker App” inAccra. The App was developed by the Ministry of Communications to answer Users’ questions on Coronavirus, help in checking symptoms of carriers and how to report suspected cases.

Vice President Bawumia said the launch of the App is an important step by the government to use technology and digitisation to fight the virus. He said the App could not have come at a better time than now, since it will help trace persons infected by the virus and link them to health professionals.

Vice President Bawumia said Ghana is one of the few countries in the World to deploy this technology to fight the coronavirus pandemic.

He said Ghana is pursuing an aggressive testing, with 450 teams employed across the Country for enhanced contact tracing.

He said as of April 11, 37,954 people have been tested.

The Vice President said Navrongo and Tamale will soon get on board as Testing Centres.

The Minister of Communication, Ursula Owusu Ekuful, said the systems data is encrypted and so no information of users will be recorded

She asked every Ghanaian to download the COVID-19 tracker app. Those who do not use smart phones should dial *769# and follow the voice prompts which will be in five major Ghanaian languages, Twi, Hausa, Dagbani, Ga and Ewe.
