Victims brought to Ejura Government Hospital had bullet wounds- Medical Superintendent testifies

The Medical Superintendent of the Ejura Government Hospital, Dr. Mensah Menyah has told the Committee of Enquiry into the recent Ejura disturbances that 12 persons were rushed to the hospital at about 12 noon on June 29, 2021, during the street protest.

One of them, Abdul Nasir, was brought in already dead while a second casualty passed on 10 minutes later.

According to him, two victims who died in last week’s incident at Ejura in the Ashanti Region sustained gunshot wounds that penetrated their bodies from the back.

The Medical Superintendent of the Ejura Government Hospital was taking his turn as the 8th Witness to testify before the three-member Committee of Enquiry into the recent Ejura disturbances since the public hearing began three days ago.

Dr. Menyah told the Committee that four others including Louis Atipa, 19, and one Awal, 16, had sustained serious gunshots wounds.

Mr. Menyah responded to questions about why bodies of the dead were released to the bereaved families without post mortem, a requirement in criminal circumstances.

The Committee had earlier scheduled the Field Commander of the military at Ejura during the protest to testify on the day. However, after hearing from the Medical Doctor, it adjourned the 3rd day’s public hearing to Friday, July 9, without giving any reason.
