The Volta Regional Executive Council of the Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG) has threatened to seize operations if the hierarchy of the Association fails to reverse the appointments of a new regional chairman and treasurer.

They have also given the National Executive Committee of CLOGSAG two-week ultimatum to reverse the transfer of the elected Volta Regional Chairman, Innocent Agbolosu and Treasurer, Franklin Atubrah who have been transferred to the Oti Region to occupy those portfolios.

At a press conference in Ho, the Volta Regional Organiser of the Association, Richard Kumedzro noted that they will resort to court for redress if the National Executive Committee fails to heed to their demands.

He lamented that the national executive committee has also not released the mandatory quarter-one expenditure allocation to the Volta Regional Secretariat of CLOGSAG for administrative work.

Mr Kumedzro said attempts through petitions to amicably resolve those decisions by the Committee which is contrary to the bye-laws of the Association have yielded no result.

“Today’s press conference is a product of several months of fruitless attempts at lawful resolution of an illegal decision by the national executive committee of CLOGSAG and it is part of our collective struggle towards challenging the current state of affairs characterized by tyranny, rule of men as opposed to rule of law, discrimination, oppression, subjugation and suppression”, he said.

Mr Kumedzro said the appointment of Daniel Danso and Sophia Lumor as acting Volta Regional Chairman and Treasurer of the Association is illegal and thus rolling back the collective gains of the Association.

He also lamented that the national executive committee of CLOGSAG has refused to release the mandatory administrative quarterly allocation to the Volta Regional Secretariat of CLOGSAG for the smooth running of the Association in the region.

“We believe that this is act of denying Volta CLOGSAG its share of the first quarter administrative expenditure allocation is an affront to CLOGSAG motto ‘Unity and Equal Right’ when the other nine remaining regions have all received their allocation in march 2020” he said.

The elected Volta Regional Chairman of CLOGSAG, Innocent Agbolosu, bemoaned that ironically the latest development has been applied only in the Volta Region and not in other regions.
