The Volta Regional Security Council is currently in a crunch meeting following the blockade of roads leading to and from the Volta Region this morning by alleged Western Togoland separatists, ‘the Homeland Study Group’.

Police at the moment have calmed the situation.

The group this dawn blocked some major roads entering the volta region.

Unconfirmed reports also suggest that the group has been able to obtain some ammunition after locking up police officers at the Aveyime, and Mepe police stations. The group also blocked the roads at Tefle and Juapong as well as other major entry points to the Volta Region amidst the burning of vehicle tyres and chanting war songs.

The situation created heavy vehicular traffic.

The Volta Regional Minister Archibald Letsa who earlier spoke on the issue on an Accra-based FM station called for calm as security personnel tackle the issue.
