The Dorfor Traditional Council in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region, has called for the release of its natives who were arrested in a swoop during last Friday’s (September 25) raid by alleged Western Togoland Separatist Group in some parts of the Region.
It also urged the Security Agencies to beef up intelligence to apprehend persons who are directly or indirectly involved in the Separatist Movement to prevent future attacks.
Government has cited members of the Western Togoland Secessionist Movement as being behind attacks on the Aveyime and Mepe Police Stations and road blocks last Friday.
The Group has also been named for an attack on the State Transport Corporation (STC) Terminal at Ho, which led to the burning of the Corporation’s Mini bus.
At a press conference at Juapong, the Manklalo of Dorfor Traditional Area, Togbe Agbohla, on behalf of the Chiefs and people condemned the raid by the Separatist Group, saying they are a threat to peace and development in the Region.
He dissociated the area and its people from the Secessionist Movement, stressing that Dorfor has been and will always be part of the Sovereign State of Ghana.
Togbe Agbohla, however said his natives who were arrested for allegedly being part of the Group, including his son and Asafoatse of the Area ,are innocent and pleaded for their release.
Togbe Agbohla warned the so called Western Togoland Separatist Group against dragging Dorfor into their Movement or using the Area for their activities.
