Volunteer information on activities of Homeland Study Group Foundation – IGP

The public is being encouraged to provide information on the activities of the Homeland Study Group Foundation, a separatist movement that is agitating for a break-away of the Volta Region from Ghana.

At a news conference in Accra, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), James Oppong Boanuh hinted that the youth wing of the group intends to foment trouble in the Oti region, the Volta Region, and other parts of the country.

According to the IGP, intelligence gathered indicates that the group has lined up a number of activities from December 20 to 27 to create problems in the country.

Yesterday (December 24), 17 persons were rounded up in the Volta region, for their alleged involvement in the activities of the group.

According to the IGP, ten more people have been arrested in Tumu in the Sissala East Municipality of the Upper West Region.
