Canoe Fishermen in the Western Region (W/R), are threatening to handle issues of trawling activities their own way.
This is because their complaints have not been addressed in addition to allegations, the Sector Minister, reportedly stated during a visit to Axim, that the fishermen have no case.
It will be recalled that on August 12 this year, Canoe Fishermen in the Western Region, joined their colleagues from other parts of the country to protest against Industrial Trawling activities also known as Saiko.
The fishermen, said the illegal and over-fishing by the Industrial Trawlers, have led to the fast depletion of fish stocks in Ghana’s waters and this is affecting their business.
