PTA of Tower Grace Academy inaugurates mechanized water project at Loho

The Parent-Teacher-Association (PTA) of Tower Grace Academy has inaugurated a mechanized borehole for the school at Loho in the Nadowli Kaleo District

The water system valued at more than 16,000 Ghana Cedis was made possible through contributions from parents.

The PTA Chairman of the School, Abraham Balabong together with some dignitaries including his Vice Chairman, Thomas Saanaa inaugurated the mechanized water system during a PTA meeting. 

Speaking at the event, Mr. Balabong indicated that prior to the drilling of the borehole, the school was buying water from private suppliers, which at times was not reliable in terms of availability and portability.

He was excited about the provision of water, saying the children will no longer go to houses near the school in search of water as they were doing. Mr. Balabong asked all those who have a stake in the school to bring their ideas on board for enhanced service delivery.

The Proprietor of Tower Grace Academy, Prof. Joseph Dery Nyeadi entreated parents and guardians to continue supporting the school to enable it to train more future leaders. He said the school, which started in 2017 with only 16 pupils, now has a population of 422 and stressed the need for all partners to play their roles dutifully for further growth of the school.

Prof Nyeadi who is also the Head of the Department of Banking and Finance of the Simon Diedong Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (SDD-UBIDS), observed that most of the parents were doing well in supporting the children’s education but added that other parents need to up their game to ensure a win-win situation.

He was very grateful to the PTA of the School for sponsoring the water project. Prof. Nyeadi also urged parents to assist their children to do their take-home assignments in order to get the best out of the kids. 

He appealed to the road sector authorities to properly demarcate and improve the road network leading to the school.

The Headmistress of Tower Grace Academy, Mrs Monica Gongoli reiterated the need for guardians to support their wards to get the needed textbooks and other necessities for their academic work.

Some of the pupils put on performances to spice up the occasion. Issues discussed at the PTA meeting included: School fees, teacher motivation, security of the kids, the state of the road to the school, and extra classes.
