The Office of the Special Prosecutor has hinted that it is currently investigating 31 active cases and will in due course commence prosecution.

According to the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyabeng, there is currently no pending case in the Courts. Addressing the Media at the International Anti-Corruption Day in Accra, Mr. Agyabeng said the Office will institute and strengthen measures to prevent, suppress and repress corruption more efficiently and effectively.

He stressed that from 2022 his Office will also institute an annual Ghana Corruption League Table to assess perceived levels of Public Sector Corruption.

Public Agencies will be ranked on a Corruption Barometer and the report will be published every 9th December.

Efforts at eradicating corruption and the handling of its related offenses appear to be a major hurdle for almost every government.

In order to help reverse the trend, the Office of the Special Prosecutor said it will vigorously investigate and prosecute all alleged corrupt cases and recover all proceeds through property tracing.

The Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyabeng called on Ghanaians to renew their mindsets and collectively help erase the negative narrative of corruption to transform the country.

In a question and answer session, the Special Prosecutor said the Office is not perturbed about any obstruction and interference.

” The Office is handling all corruption-related matters with decorum”, he posited.
