The Onion Sellers who were moved from Agbogbloshie to Adjen Kotoku have decried the inadequacy of sheds.
They are also unhappy about the inadequate number of sheds and the poor nature of access roads in and around the market.
Chairman of the Accra Onion Sellers and Importers Cooperative Society, Alhaji Masawudu Salisu, who made the point on the GTV Breakfast show explained that the inadequacy of amenities at the new site is affecting the smooth transaction of business.
He, therefore, appealed to the Regional Minister, Henry Quartey, to honour promises made to ensure that the needed infrastructure is provided at the Adjen Kotoku market for the Onion sellers.
“Moving from Agbogbloshie to Adjen Kotoku is very difficult for us, but since we came here, we don’t have enough sheds, our onions are on the floor. We are therefore appealing to the government to come to our aid as they told us,” Alhaji Masawudu Salisu posited.
He explained that business is slow and sometimes it rains.
“If it starts raining, we pack the onions, because there are no sheds and this makes the onion spoil because of the rubbers we use to cover them.”
He thanked the Regional Minister for his support but pleaded with him to attend urgently to their concerns.
