Weija Leprosarium: One hot meal a day for the Inmates

By Ama Serwa Bediako

The Administrator at the Weija Leprosarium, Madam Esther Geh has made an appeal to individuals and corporate institutions to assist the facility to provide one hot meal a day to the inmates.

According to Madam Geh, the government’s budget for them is not enough to provide proper meals.

She made the appeal when Alpha Lotto donated assorted items and a cash amount of twenty thousand cedis to cured lepers at Weija Leprosarium in Accra.

The items comprising 20 bags of rice, 10 cartons of cooking oil, 15 cartons of mackerel and 20 boxes of water, were aimed at providing support to the upkeep of the inmates at the Leprosarium.

Speaking at the presentation, a management member of Alpha Lotto, Emmanuel Senanu, said the presentation formed part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, to support orphanages, the aged and needy in society. He urged individuals and institutions to intervene in alleviating the plight of cured lepers at the Weija Leprosarium, as well as other minority groups in society.

Madam Geh said the donation will go a long way to support the financial needs of the facility. She thanked Alpha Lotto for the benevolence and appealed to Corporate Ghana and Civil Society Organizations, to go to their aid.
