Wenzhou Chamber of Commerce to set up an industrial Park in Ghana

The China Africa Chamber of Commerce, headquartered in Wenzhou has declared its intention of setting up an industrial park in Ghana by August 2019.

This was disclosed at the China- Ghana (Wenzhou) Cooperation Forum held on 3rd of September at the Shangrila Hotel in Wenzhou.

The forum, which brought together over 80 Chinese investors was organized under the joint Chairmanship of the Dr Charles Dwamena, Ghana’s Deputy Ambassador to China and Mr Chen Hao, the Executive Vice Mayor of Wenzhou Municipal Government as a side event of the 2018 FOCAC.

The Ministers of Railways Development and Roads and Highways, Hon Joe Ghartey and Hon Kwasi Amoako- Attah, who were the Special Guests of Honor, took turns in highlighting the various investment opportunities in their sectors.

The President of the Wenzhou Chamber of Commerce in Ghana, Mr Huang Yong Tao, indicated that their decision to set up the industrial park is to support the industrialization agenda of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.

He stressed the need for the Government of Ghana to continue reforming the tax system so as to reduce the tax burden on imported raw materials.

The investors, who are predominantly from Wenzhou city, expressed their satisfaction with the presentations made by the various speakers.

They used the occasion to thank the Embassy of Ghana in Beijing and the Wenzhou Municipal Government for organizing such an impactful forum.

Wenzhou is a city well noted for its industrial prowess and has a GDP of over $75 billion. According to the Wenzhou Chamber of Commerce in Ghana, members of their Chamber have already set up over 80 factories in Ghana.

These include Wynca Sunshine Agric Products and trading Co. Limited, H&T Company Limited, Wankang Ceramics Co. Ltd, Safe Cement Company Ltd, etc.

The Wenzhou Medical University, the Chinese institution that is assisting the Tamale Teaching Hospital with a RMB 30 million Eye Center is based in Wenzhou city.
