Construction work on the first phase of the University of Health and Allied Sciences, UHAS, Fodome Campus in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta Region will soon resume after it was halted in 2014.

The Fodome Campus will serve as the permanent site for UHAS School of Public Health which presently operates in temporary facilities at the Hohoe Municipal Hospital.

The GETFund project which is in five phases began in 2014 and was expected to be completed in 2015 but stalled due to financial challenges.

Handing over the project to the contractor, the acting Dean of UHAS School of Public Health, Professor Margaret Kweku disclosed that the increasing number of students requires adequate infrastructure for effective teaching and learning. She therefore urged the new contractor to work within the 18 months schedule to ease pressure on the temporary facilities in Hohoe.

An elder of the Fodome Community, Jerry Agala was optimistic that the project will set the pace for the area to develop. He urged the contractor to employ the youth in the area to enable the community to derive some benefits.

The contractor, Kofi Anderson said he will engage some of the youth in the area and ensure that the project is completed within the scheduled time.
