The $30 million Yendi water project funded by the Indian Exim Bank is progressing steadily.
The Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, Sugandh Rajaram, who disclosed this attributed the delay in starting physical construction to procedures in securing the fund which should be transparent.
Ambassador Rajaram explained that procedures are going on well between the two countries and assured residents that construction works will soon begin to bring the perennial water shortage in the municipality to an end.
The Yendi Municipality suffers from perennial water crisis especially during the dry season when the River Daka dries up.
In July last year, President Akufo-Addo cut the sod for the construction of the project with funding from the Indian Exim Bank.
Also, some residents have since expressed their frustration over perceived delays in executing the project.
The Indian High Commissioner is on a weeklong working visit to the Northern Region and has been meeting with stakeholders including the Indian business community, traditional authorities and the media.
