The Youth in Business (Y.I.B) Virtual Summit 2022 has been held. The Y.I.B brings together and supports young people who want to learn more and establish themselves in Ghana.

This year’s event on Saturday, June 11, themed ‘making and raising money online’, attracted speakers and attendees from Ghana and across the world.

Speaking on Zoom, Founder of the Youth in Business Orgranisation, Damon Nana Osei Kofi, said Ghana is blessed with skills and resources but lacks the ability to develop these in the youth.

“We have been focused unlike any other organisation on practical development. We bring young people with the adequate skills and knowledge to thrive in different industries together to share with their fellow youth how, not the stories, not the motivation but the actual practical methodology for how they can elevate themselves, how they can acquire the skills to move to higher heights, to thrive in their offices and their jobs, to start new businesses and thrive in this country.”

“Young people are the largest demographic in this country and we need to empower them. Its been the struggle and the effort of our country’s greatest leaders from our president to the Ministry of Youth with the Youthstart programmes and so many more to empower our youth.”

He explained that the youth are the answer to Ghana‘s problems and stressed the need for self-development.

“But we are here to say that the youth can do more. We can come together ourselves and share what little we know about all our different areas and expertise where we have our own skills and share with one another, grow each other because what is important here is not just the development of these schemes by the government to support our youth but to have youth who can take that support and take it up to the next level.”

He added, “we need youth who have the skills, knowledge, ideas, and practical experience to execute businesses, and projects that can change the face of Ghana.”

There were also Question and Answer, and Networking sessions for participants.

  1. Such an impactful and educative session! I met a lot of interesting people and learnt about some tools that can help me out.

  2. I personally learnt a lot from the informative sessions and connected with others during the Q&A and networking session. Mr. Damon and his team were really open to helping young people be better at business.

  3. It was such a great experience. Aside the ton of new things I learnt, what struck me was the enthusiasm of the people who joined the webinar. I realized there are many young people like me ready to make an impact in life. I believe Ghana has a bright future. Let’s continue to mentor and encourage the youth. That’s what most people need. Long live Ghana.
