Zoomlion drivers withdraw services as heaps of refuse pile up in Accra

The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), wishes to inform the general public that, drivers of Zoomlion Ghana Limited [Accra Zone] have withdrawn their services from the city Monday morning without any official notice to the Assembly.
According to a statement issued by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly, this has resulted in  “uncollected solid wastes at various locations across the city.”
The statement assured that it was working to bring the situation under control and that the AMA has deployed Tipper Trucks to collect all heaps as a temporal measure to manage the situation.
The Chief Executive Officer of AMA, Mr Mohammed Nii Adjei Sowah in an interview said the Assembly does not owe Zoomlion, adding that the problem is between the workers and the management of the company.
