2026 Budget: Ghana will rise again through reform, discipline and visionary leadership – Ato Forson

Ghana’s Finance Minister has assured the nation that the country is on a firm path to recovery and progress,presenting the 2026 Budget Statement to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, 2025, he declared that “Ghana will rise again through reform, discipline, and visionary leadership.” 

The minister said the new budget reflects President John Dramani Mahama’s strong commitment to fix the economy and reset it on a path of sustainable growth.

He explained that when the current administration took office, the economy was in distress, weighed down by heavy debt, mismanagement, and a loss of public confidence. However, through bold reforms and careful planning, government has restored fiscal discipline, stabilized the cedi, and rekindled investor trust. “This is not just a recovery; it is a rese, a new beginning for our nation,” the minister said, adding that Ghana’s story is one of resilience and renewal.

The 2026 Budget, themed “Resetting for Growth, Jobs, and Economic Transformation,” focuses on three main priorities, maintaining macroeconomic stability, accelerating job creation, and strengthening social and security systems for inclusive growth. The minister said the government’s goal is to build a Ghana that produces more than it consumes and creates decent jobs for its citizens.

He  reaffirmed President Mahama’s commitment to protect public funds and promote responsible economic management adding that never again must we allow recklessness and waste to define how we handle the people’s money. The minister also said confidence is returning, the Black Star is rising once more, and Ghana is back, strong, stable, and full of hope.”
