The Daily Graphic has called for increased women participation in politics and governance. The paper believes that the under representation of women at all level of governance and decision making results in a democratic deficit. It expresses worry that out of the 157 Parliamentary candidates elected during the NDC primaries, only 17 are women. The Graphic therefore calls for the needed enabling environment to enhance gender equality and women empowerment. The Daily Graphic believes that this can be done if political parties begin the affirmative action in their strongholds to enable more women into politics.

The Ghanaian Times has commended the NDC for the peaceful manner in which it conducted its primaries and the delegates for exercising their franchise orderly. The paper also salutes the EC for conducting a smooth election. The Times believes that political intimidation and harassment which result in violence and destruction of ballot papers and other electoral materials at polling stations have no place in democracy. The paper says the successful conduct of the primaries should encourage party officials to work harder to resolve all outstanding issues to pave the way for primaries to be held for the remaining contestants.
