The Daily Graphic calls on everyone to focus on regular handwashing and not sanitisers in the wake of COVID-19 because research has shown that consistently washing the hands thoroughly with soap reduces respiratory and intestinal diseases by between 25 and 50 percent. The paper notes that hand sanitisers are only to be used as a complement when water is not readily available. The Graphic wishes to make clear that running water does not mean tap water only thus through handwashing and behavioural change communication sensitisation, a lot of innovative ways have been developed to have running water, such as the tippy tap made from a plastic gallon or bottle. It therefore urges all institutions and members of the public to make judicious use of water to avoid any water crisis in the country as cautioned by the Ghana Water Company Limited.

The Ghanaian Times commends Chinese Billionaire Jack Ma for donating medical supplies to combat COVID-19 in Africa and other countries worldwide. The paper said though there are fewer confirmed cases of the virus in Africa, there is the need to take drastic measures to contain the spread of COVID-19 so as not to suffer the same fate as the other continents. The Times said WHO figures show that the disease is gradually creeping into Africa and this must be a great concern for Africans. It believes that now that Ghana has taken custody of the needed medical supplies, it is time to draw on the experience of others to speedily and accurately test and provide adequate protective equipment to the medical professionals to fight the disease.
